Jonathan aged 60, began his career in corporate finance at Deloitte where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant before taking the leap into industry.
After implementing circa 30 private company acquisitions at industrial products group Cookson Group plc where he was Corporate Development Director, Jonathan’s first success in general management came as a Divisional CEO of Cookson's plastic mouldings division, where he was responsible for the turnaround and subsequent sale of the £40 million division.
After leaving the public company arena Jonathan has gone on to execute and successfully exit two management buy-ins, firstly of a speciality rubber sheeting manufacturer in Derbyshire and secondly a designer and manufacturer of medical laser equipment, where he made four acquisitions in three years and increased profitability fivefold prior to sale. In a more recent role Jonathan has turned round and sold an international £50 million private building products group in order to pay off the bank debt and return money to shareholders.
In 2016 Jonathan and Philip structured a deal to purchase Moorhead Group in Leeds which specialises in Earthworks and Demolition. The business has gone from strength to strength and has paid off all the debt used to finance the deal.
Jonathan’s primary skills are in structuring asset financing packages, raising equity, re-structuring ailing businesses and in identifying and implementing complementary acquisitions.
In 2019 Jonathan invested as part of a consortium in the buyout from administration of Nottingham-based POS packaging manufacturer, Lighthouse Display International. As interim MD and then Chairman Jonathan oversaw the business return to solid profitability in its first year.
